The concept of this proposal for the recreation and set up of new purpose use of the old port-factory area of Keratsini in Pereus is based in the “Pause from the Routine” idea. It is designed and organised in order to set the escaping routes to the sea shore.
Great emphasis has been given into the quality of the time which will be spent by the visitors, where there will be a pause from the everyday routine. The area in a way will be the calling to the local habitants to live a special experience with some exchange of feelings and habits, as they are moving towards the development to the sea shore.
The design element is to re-develop the idea of the public space and to provide a fluid continuity with the recreation part of the city. This becomes evident with the highlight of the old area cores, while at the same time the development includes some additional new cores in order to keep up the memories. The idea of the old factory buildings will be eliminated, with an option to preserve the remaining of the old city. After the development, the area will become a middle link to the nature through the underpopulated areas.
When figure the surrounding area, it is obvious that the recreation site is stimulated through the use of buildings from the city, the university of Pereus, and the sports facilities of Keratsini town, involving them in the whole development in a way that they are not over-shaded through the new idea. This results into the economy of the area, where new jobs will be created, while at the same time, the recreation will provide an easy access to the overall population of the area, where the visitors will be benefited from the great experience of the site walk.
